Tuesday Tip: Christmas Light Storage

28 12 2010

How do those Christmas decorations go up in the attic at the end of the year completely intact, and wind back up down in your living room broken and tangled? Here are a couple tips to help you as we all think about putting up those decorations for the year. Use these tips, and they’ll come out of the attic again next year neat and ready to go!

  • Save those paper towel tubes whenever you replace a roll, and keep any extension cords neat by stuffing the looped cords into cardboard tubes from paper towels.
  • Fabric stores are often willing to part with empty plastic lace bolts. They work perfectly for storing those strings of Christmas lights. If you get plenty, you can hold your ribbon, yarn, garland, anything that might get tangled. That way, you don’t have a mess on your hands next year, but a nice, neat string of twinkly lights.
