Pabst Blue Ribbon: A Party

3 11 2010

This past week we celebrated my boyfriend’s 30th birthday with his family, and his close friends.  As his favorite adult beverage of choice is Pabst Blue Ribbon or PBR, I decided to take that idea and include it in everything from the invitation, to the games, and décor.  Red, white and blue were obvious color choices, but I layered in silver.   I LOVE the 1920’s advertisement with the platter of oysters and a PBR pictured below.

For the centerpieces, we used wheat instead of barley as it is easier to find and simply put them on the tables in old tomato cans (a girl has got to cut corners somewhere, plus they turned out pretty cute).  I also found some antique or just plain old sports equipment to coordinate with the more recent 1950’s advertisements.

While PBR comes from Milwaukee, we made it our southern favorite for the weekend.

A friend actually made the bean bag game, and it was a huge hit, besides the keg of PRB, of course!
