Southern Music Week: To the Blue Ridge Mountains, Over Near Tennessee

9 07 2010

We hope you’ve enjoyed this first Southern Music Week here at Sweet Iced Tea.

We’ve sure enjoyed sharing with you some of our favorite Southern bands, and bands that have Southern musical influences.

We’ve got one more band for you today, and particularly one more song to include on your Southern summer playlist — Fleet Foxes’ Blue Ridge Mountains.

You’ll all recognize their subject matter immediately, but I fell in love with the harmonies of this Seattle-based band recently, and just had to admonish you all to have a listen to “Blue Ridge Mountains.”

We’ll leave you with just a few of the lyrics to this song, reminding you that you’re welcome anytime in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

You’re ever welcome with me any time you like
Let’s drive to the countryside, leave behind some green-eyed look-a-likes
So no one gets worried, no
So no one gets worried, no
