Tuesday Tip: Be Content

4 05 2010

I don’t know about y’all, but I grew up in America, so if I’m being honest with myself, I can struggle from time to time with the “I wants.” While most of us probably have anything we could ever want or need, there is nothing that makes any of us more unhappy than ungratefulness, and nothing that can make life happier than realizing that we have more than we deserve.

One of my pet peeves about myself, and about America in general, is that we feel entitled to anything and everything. We think we have the “right” to a new car, purse, job, house… on and on and on.

So, for today’s Tuesday Tip, rather than show you how to do something easier, get something cheaper, finish your chores faster (not that there’s anything wrong with those things), I’m going to encourage us all to do the one thing that will make all our lives a lot happier.

So let’s make this our motto, how about it, Southern ladies and gentlemen?

From the good B-I-B-L-E (yes, that’s the book for me!):

“I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret [of being content]—whether well-fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need.”

Philippians 4:11-12 (Holman Christian Standard Version)
