Southern Wedding: Out of Town Guest Bags

30 03 2010

My sister, Rachael was married in January of this year and her wedding was stunning.  Take a look at some of the amazing pictures

As they say, it is all in the details, and this is true for my sister’s wedding.  With many of the guests arriving from Alabama, North Carolina, and Georgia, my sister wanted to ensure that guests were truly appreciated for their time spent traveling and the effort put forth to attend their wedding.  With this, the out of town bags were spectacular.

Rachael commissioned an etsy artist to create the bags (Rachael’s theme was trees), and we filled them with lots of goodies, including juice, water, fruit, locally made candied pecans from Becky’s Brittle, homemade extra large chocolate chip cookies, biscotti, fabric covered jars of wildflower honey from the family hives, homemade sweet potato beer (our father is a home brewer and sweet potato is the favorite) and coffee from a women’s co-op in Kenya.

Each bag also included a note from Rachael and Ty, the events of the weekend and map of our little town, but I am saving the map for tomorrow!

I must say that I coveted one of those bags, but my bridesmaid gift was nothing to scoff at either.

Gifts with local charm are great for out-of-town bags! Many of our customers are couples looking for some Southern charm to add to their out-of-town bags or reception favors.
