Last Minute Holiday Gift. Southern Style.

22 12 2009

Admittedly, I love giving good gifts. Ok, ok. I love receiving them as well. Christmas is a great time to truly give well (thoughtfully).  However, you might have an unexpected guest or need a last minute gift, and even if the gift is not personalized, it can be original.

You only need a few things to make a great holiday gift.  1) Always include food items. 2) Always include food items. 3) Always include food items.  Did you get my drift?

Here is a sure fire winner for any holiday party or last minute gift.

Basket Contents:

  • Basket
  • Local honey in a mason jar (you can get this from your local Whole Foods, Fresh Market or farmer’s market).  This honey was actually harvested this fall from our hives.
  • Old fashioned candy canes (These are Bob’s brand and can be found at your local Cracker Barrel Restaurant).
  • Stone Ground Grits (yummy! – Can also be found at your local organic store). This particular brand, White’s Mill, is our favorite and can be found at any Mast General Store.
  • Citrus
  • Dried Bay Leaves (These might be harder to find, but you could always substitute with a bundle of mistletoe, cotton, or a lavender plant).
  • Apple Wood (This is the perfect grilling mate). These are actually from the mountains of North Carolina, but you can find them in grilling stores, or your local firewood stand.

Voila! You have a wonderful gift I am even jealous over and would love for someone to give me!

What are your last minute gift ideas?
