Because of Winn-Dixie

I love kid’s movies. Kid’s books. Kid’s clothes. Kid’s magazines. Most of life is so serious, that I love to be reminded of all that was magical while being a kid—playing out of doors in the sprinklers in the summer, believing in Santa Claus, trick-or-treating dressed up as your favorite character that year, getting to dress in whatever you felt like, owning your first pet. So, it’s no surprise that some of my favorite films are classified in the Children & Family section.

Like a happy red packaged present, Because of Winn-Dixie arrived via Netflix in my mailbox last week, and as I sat down to watch it, I was completely engulfed in this charming story about a girl and her only friend in a new town, her dog Winn Dixie. Her only friend, that is, until Winn Dixie becomes instrumental in helping her make friends in a small Southern town, helps her to learn more about her mother, and brings her and her distant father together. (And how cute is AnnaSophia Robb?)

The soundtrack was wonderful (a great road trip selection, for those of you already planning your summer vacays!). The story was delightful. I love a great, clean, heart-warming movie. Listen up, Hollywood!

Do you have any enjoyable Southern movies you love?
